Friday Tip of the Day ~ Episode 394

Good morning my creative friends & welcome to another "Friday Tip of the Day"!  Today is a VERY SPECIAL day, it is my Baby Aaron's birthday! He turned the big "13" today...it is definitely bittersweet because I can't believe how fast my boys are growing up:'(
Since we are all HUGE "S.F. Giants" fans, I just had to make a card w/the Giant's colors...orange & black! I really like how it came out! You can see in my video EXACTLY how I put this together!

Basically, my tip for this card was that you can make a simple background on your card just by punching out some simple squares w/a 1 1/4 square punch! You can see the very first cards I made using this technique (a long time ago) HERE & HERE!
I just LOVE these colors because they are my FAVORITE colors this time of year! It almost makes me want to go out & get stuff to make a homemad pumpkin pie! lol..... (seriously) ;)

Supplies I used for my card today!
~ Gift Card Sentiments
~ Grand Slam
~ 1 1/4 Stampin up punch
~ Paper were scraps from my stash
~Vellum -Papertrey Ink!
~Baseball & bat are stickers from Joanns from the "Jolee" collection!

Here is my video for you today!

  4. HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AARON! Here come the fun teenage years....look out, Emma! LOL!
One of my favorite birthday memories, huh? Well, when I was turning 14, my friends decided to throw me a surprise party. All the whispering and odd behavior leading up to it led me to think they were all talking about me behind my back (you know how young teenagers are! LOL). By the time the day arrived for the party, I was so angry and upset with most of them. I became quite impossible to deal with. I don't know how they put up with me for those few days, but as soon the word "SURPRISE" was shouted out, all was forgiven :) Happy ending!
Oh, by the way, Emma...VERY COOL CARD! Love, love, love how you used the vellum!

My favorite birthday memory is not one from my birthday but one from my youngest son's....I planned a surprise birthday party for him when he turned 7 with 7 of his BFF's...first of all image how hard it is to keep 7 year olds from spilling the beans...plus how do you tell your birthday boy there will be no party :(
We pulled it off with a HUGE surprise...my son was over the moon excited and his friends had such a blast! It was one of the best parties EVER! He still to this day talks about that party!!
TFS your beautiful card and for the chance to win! Have a GREAT day and again Happy Birthday Aaron!!!

  16. Its not my favorite birthday memory but it is my most memorable one. My 16th. I was at a Rodeo with friends, our lands connected with the Rodeo Arena so we got in free and it was still light out you know when the sun is so bright right before it sinks below the ground, we heard sirens. So
one said its your Grandpa. It was just a 1/4 of a mile up the road, we hurried up there. You see my Grandpa drove a buck board wagon to town and
back and as he was headed home a little red sports car came around the curve and because of the sun he couldn't even see my Grandpa, it shattered
the wagon into pieces and the Mule (Blue) was ok but the white horse (Midnight) had a broken hip. (he got ok and live to be 30) He spent the rest of his life over at my Uncle and Aunts place. Anyways Grandpa got his knife out and had chased the you boy who hit him and the boy had hidden behind a pond embankment till the police got there. Grandpa refuse
to get into the ambulance till our county sherriff(a family friend) got there. He calmed him down and and was able to get him to understand that he needed to be checked out. Later that night Grandpa opened a window
at the hospital and escaped. Lol you would have to know my grandpa. Well
anyways thats my most memorable birthday!!! Love your card Miss Emma!!

  17. Adorable card! Well, when I turned 25 I lived in Tennessee where I was going to school. I was 800 miles away from home, but my BFF filled FILLED her car up with balloons and parked in front of my dorm room. She took me to Nashville that weekend and we had a great time. Turning twenty-five was a big deal for me. I felt so old. My goodness...I am a mummy now at 40! HA!!!

  18. My memorable birthday would have to be this past one. Living away from my children makes it difficult to celebrate anything. Well this birthday which was 9/9 I turned 70. I planned to be with my children to celebrate this special birthday and we all met in Atlantic city in August for a 3 day celebration at Caesars Palace Atlantic City Hotel. My two boys and their wives and some old friends we hadn't seen in 30 years. It was a blast from the past and great being with them all.

  19. My favorite memory is a time when I was about 11 and my mom, the center of my world, couldn't be there due to work. It was a time when the show Finders Keepers was out, so she hid all my gifts. Each gift had a clue on it as to where the next gift was! I had so much fun looking and finding each gift. Thanks to my mom's creativity it was a very memorable birthday! Just one of the birthdays I am grateful for, as I am grateful for every year, lol.

  25. Really cute B-day card. My fav memory is my 40th...3 years ago. When I was little, my mom made this unbelievable cake for my little bro's birthday. It had gumdrops and dancing bears all around it cut from chocolate. I never said anything...but I was jealous of that cake(when I was a kid). About 10 years ago, I started teasing my mom...that Rob(my bro) was her fav kid....because he got the special cake. This went on for years. On my 40th Birthday...my Mom made me the cake...she said she never knew that I wanted her to make me the cake when I was little. It was funny and sweet at the same time. Lee-Ann :)

All of my childhood b'days were awesome cause I shared them with my Dad! I was born on his b'day in his car outside the hospital. I remember when I was about 5 or 6 I was allowed to go to the toy store and pick out my own gift. I came home with my first Barbie doll. I thought I hit the jackpot!

  29. Happy Birthday to your baby Aaron! He's a cutie! My daughter just turned 13 last week - think we could set them up? Maybe an arranged marriage in about 10 years or so? ;)

One of my favorite birthday memories: I have had big parties for my kids since their 1st. With their birthdays being just 2 days apart, and having a boy and a girl, it was getting harder to do. So I told them the parties stopped at 12. But 3 years ago when my son was turning 13, I decided that I couldn't let a major milestone birthday pass without a party, so I had a surprise party for him. It was great and he was so surprised! The hardest part of keeping it a surprise was keeping him off of facebook and myspace (because he was finally old enough to have an account and he wanted on!). The party was after his actual birthday and I was using FB and MS to plan the party!

This year my daughter turned 13 and we had a big Barbie themed bash. It was a ton of fun!! I do love birthdays!

My daughter had sent out letters to all the family members and friends for photos and a story they could write down and mail back to her. I love celebrating birthdays. One of my personal favorites was when I turned 7. My birthday is in March and we had moved in February, I was in 2nd grade in a new school, making new friends, joined a new Brownie Troop and left my old friends in another city. Well surprise surprise...my birthday party included friends from my old school and troop!!! I was so happy and excited to see them and introduce them to some new friends.

  54. The only memory that I can think of was on one of my birthdays when I was in my mid-20's I drove to visit a friend in San Clemente. She was working a lot so I spent a lot of time alone...the bonus was she lived across the street from the beach. I would wake up and get a mocha and watch the surfers until the fog lifted. Then I would change into my suit and lay out and relax until she got home from work. We went out to dinner on my actual birthday and she is just a great person to be around.

It was a surprise because I thought I would never have another after my first Tonkinese passed away from a happy old age. Still happy with my now 15 year old! 63. Fantastic card and a very happy birthday to Aaron! (My son is also 13...it's hard to believe how fast the time has gone by!) My favorite b-day memory is not about my birthday at all, but my sisters. When I was in 4th grade, I won a craft contest in my class and won a box of candy as a prize. On the bus ride home, I realized it was my sister's b-day. I hadn't prepared anything, so when I got home I presented her with the box of chocolates as a birthday gift. We both still talk about this ancient memory and the craft that I created way back when.
