GOOD MORNING & welcome to another "Thrifty Thursday!" If you are new to my blog, every other Thursday we do Thrifty Thursday by using our scraps that we have leftover on our craft tables & make a project of our choice! For those who follow me, you know that I have been taking the Online Watercoloring Class! So I am incorporating my homework this week on my blog w/whatever we are making! Hope that made sense!! hehehe! ;) Since all I've been doing this week is watercoloring, I have plenty of leftover watercolor paper hanging out on my craft table so that is what I used for my card today!
I was a little scared w/today's class because they were using stamps & watercoloring w/them! I do have to say that I ALMOST threw this card away :( I just was NOT happy w/it at all! I think my main mistake was not letting the background dry completely before I started stamping my image!
Sorry I don't have a video, I've been working on deadline stuff ALLLL DAY & by the time I was done, it was already too late :( So I tried my best to do a picture tutorial instead for you today! ;)
Okay, I saw this technique on Miss Jennifer McQuires instructional video this morning! She make it look SOOOOO SUPER easy, but it wasn't for me! lol……… Now, to get that blueish background, Jennifer had used Versamark ink & inked up her blog. Then I added a blue color from my Koi watercolors, after I used my mini mister to spray it at least 5 times, but I should've sprayed it a few more times to make it a little lighter in color. Next I took the block & pressed it directly onto my scrap of paper & held it down for a minute or two. Sorry, I forgot to take a pic of that part :(
Next I grabbed my stamp set "Build a Pretty Flower", then used my Tim Holtz distress markers to ink up my stamp!
After I stamped the image onto my card, I took a fine water brush & added water to the image to give it a watercolor affect!
I proceeded & did the same thing w/the rest of the stamping. These are the color markers that I used!
As you can see, CLEARLY I need practice using watercolors w/stamps :( I decided to add some clear Wink of Stella to my flower so it can have a little shimmer! I also added it to the leaves & stem as well. The sentiment I used came from "Teeny Tag Holiday's!"

Your card turned out so beautiful you really are doing great learning all these cool watercolor techniques. Your step by step made sense I have fun seeing what you did and your videos and I love seeing how it's done it's not something I do but it's been fun and interesting to see how it's done and your results is so awesome glad you've been having so much fun!! Now off to see what your talented DT has for today!!

ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your water coloring projects. Don't be so hard on on yourself. I, too, have been trying water coloring and wasn't happy with the results, but someone else saw them and love them. I think you have to develop a taste for water colored projects--it's a different art form.

Your watercolor card has a nice fade of blue and the flower turned out great. The Design Team also did a super job on their projects. So many wonderful and different ideas and techniques. Wonderful job everyone.
